About this Item
Lovely first edition of this novel by Oliver Crawford, author's presentation copy inscribed and signed by the author with dedication to Deborah Rogers. The first edition of this work, a scarce copy. Written by Oliver Crawford, Irish author of The Door Marked Malaya, telling of his experiences in Malaya.Inscribed by the author to the front endpapers to Deborah Rogers, literary agent:"The more important thingThis for Deborah - because she knows more about this book than she ever might to tell. May she guard its secrets! This for Deborah -because she remembers how she was feeling the day she devastated the publishers into publishing this book. What she undertook and achieved that day was brave. She knows why. But when she phones the news to S. she never said a word of what had truly happened. That was braver still. Indeed, she never said a word for months and months. When she did it was because (but that is a story I do not life to remember.).This for Deborah - because with all the storm and fury she may make the mistake of thinking I do not know who she is. She is wrong. For when all connected with this book is set aside, what remains - ? The important thing. She is Deborah."Complete with unclipped dust wrapper.
