From the Back Cover
Hitler and his trusted colonels, rejecting conventional rules and tactics of war, concoct the "dirty tricks" brigade caper that would almost win the Battle of The Bulge for them...
Zeke Hyams, an American G.I. captured in that battle in December 1944, in what was probably the sharpest setback for American arms ever, is taken across Germany on a death march, and eventually winds up in a stalag in eastern Germany, where he finds a strange polygot world "preserved in formaldehyde... "
At war's end, after liberation by the onrushing Russian Army, Zeke and some fellow POWs share their newfound freedom-- and eventually tender romance-- with a group of women survivors in a poignant drama that brings the Holocaust alive again...
Doomed victims of the Nazi scourge, stripped of the last vestiges of human dignity, are carted across Hitler's Europe, from the killing camps in Poland to bondage and slavery at one work station after another, in a final journey to oblivion from which there is no return.
