Gilbert and George: The Complete Pictures 1971-2006

"Gilbert & George: The Complete Pictures" is set to be the art publishing sensation of 2007. Entirely designed by the artists themselves, the lavishly produced, two-volume book contains every picture they have created over the last 35 years and comes complete with a unique carrying case that is a work of art in itself. Widely regarded as the pre-eminent artists of their generation, Gilbert & George have attracted both enormous acclaim and fierce controversy. At last, on the Eve of a massive retrospective exhibition that opens at Tate Modern in London in February 2007 and will tour to five further venues across the globe, a book is published that does justice to the scale, depth and ambition of their artistic achievement. With nearly 1,500 colour illustrations, including 203 close-up details and 256 exhibition views, as well as an introductory essay by leading art historian Rudi Fuchs, "The Complete Pictures" is the most thorough exploration of the art of Gilbert & George to date.
