Outer edges of the text block are toned. The front pastedown has a slip of paper pasted in which has typed names and dates, apparently as part of a reading club. There is foxing to the end papers as well as occasional spotting throughout the text. Text is toned. INSCRIBED by the author on the front end paper, "For Martha Butler / With Love and Best Wishes-- / Thelma Thompson." Thelma Thompson Slaydon (1907-1977) was born in Ashland, Alabama and lived in Atlanta Georgia where she taught creative writing at Emory University and at University of Georgia.
