First printing. Tall 8vo. Frontispiece photograph with tissue guard. vii, 269 pp. Illustrated with three B & W photographs with tissue guards. Printed letterpress on mould-made, watermarked paper. Marbled endpapers. Original gilt-stamped blue polished calf binding with 5 raised spinal bands. Top edge gilt. INSCRIBED by Lyle on the second front endpaper: "To Robin with his Grandfather Lyle's | good wishes for 1931. | Christmas, 1930." Alexander Park Lyle (1849-1933) was Chairman of the Lyle Shipping Company and created Baronet 26 March 1929. This sumptuously produced volume of autobiography and reminiscences was undoubtedly done in extremely small quantities and at great expense for the family (and possibly close friends). Only three copies are listed on OCLC in world libraries. Spine with some sunning and light leather scuffing else tight, near fine. Scarce, especially signed. Seller Inventory # 18933
