Add to basketApparent First Edition (NAP). Flat-signed by the author on the half-title page. Many sellers are identifying this book as a Book Club Edition. It's possible that that's the case here. Or not. The top corner of the front flap is clipped which likely means that the price was present there which is usually not the case with Book Club Editions. At the bottom of the front flap it does state 'A Book-of-the-Month Club Alternate Selection' which to my knowledge doesn't mean it's a Book Club Edition. The other way to identify such an edition is with the circular or square little indent off the bottom edge of the rear cover of the book. There is no such indent on this book. There is only one other copy of this title for sale on the Internet that is signed. The price for that book is $50.00 and the dust jacket is described tersely as 'showing wear.' I'm selling my signed copy for half of that price. You can see the covers in the photos. They are quite clean. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright. The bottom edge of the spine has a little crinkling. The cover edges and corners are in excellent shape, no rubbing. The page edges look very clean. Despite being 734 pages the book is quite solidly bound from cover to cover. When you hold the book in your hand around the spine you can move it just a little bit back and forth by moving your fingers back and forth. However, the pages are quite decently tight throughout. There are no cracks or spaces between any of them or between the covers and any of them. The pages look exceptionally clean. I'm scrolling through them without finding any instances of soiling. A lot of pages so it's possible I'm missing something but it doesn't look that way. The condition of the pages is generally very good. I did find six consecutive pages with a small crease below their top corner, not reaching the print. I also found a tear and crease near the top corner of page 523?524. It does not reach the print, but does reach the page number. It did not impact any of the pages before or after it. There are two sections of photographs, eight pages in each. They are in excellent condition. The inside covers and end papers also form two different illustrations. The rear inside cover has a little bit of a puffy crease or two. There are no markings anywhere in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It has quite a few little smooth scratches and it has several losses and several tears. The flaps are not in a terrible condition. As mentioned, the top corner of the front flap is clipped. There's also wear at the outer edge of the rear flap, some scuffing and a small tear, at the outer edge of the front flap there is a small tear, the continuation of the tear from the front cover. The flaps are clean. The whole jacket, if it matters, is also clean. As you can see, I have the jacket in a fitted protective cover, bit late but nevertheless. From the dust jacket: 'In this superb narrative, as she did so successfully in Catherine, the Queen and A Crown for Elizabeth, Mary M. Luke is brought to vivid reality the 'years of Elizabeth.' Dominating them is Elizabeth herself, a woman terrified of losing her Crown, in emotional bondage to her subjects, a demon with her ladies-in-waiting, an incredible coquette, a demanding monarch and, at the same time a poignantly lovable woman and Queen. Utilizing letters, journals, and other material of the period, Mary M. Luke presents in Gloriana a magnificent portrait of an enigmatic woman, one who fascinates as much today as she did more than four hundred years ago.'.
