8vo., 375pp. Solid True First Printing of the First Edition, with "flees" on p.100, line 17. Brown top-stain. Buck's landmark winner of the 1932 Pulitzer Prize. Bound in brown cloth with lettering and decoration in gilt. Green illustrated end-papers. Square and clean with maybe just a hint of page toning but no foxing , writing or any other markings. Some spotting to cloth and spine gilt dulled as is the top-stain. Spine cloth creased and loosened from text-block in spots. Mild edge-wear. Very attractive unclipped later-issue dust-jacket, ($2.50, Pulitzer winner notice), has some chipping to spine ends, toned spine and edges, and some wear to edges and tips. Still bright, complete and presents well. Pasted onto the verso of the front end-paper, is a form note, signed by Buck, addressing booksellers and offering her thanks for their efforts, while introducing a new work, her 1954 semi-autobiographical "My Several Worlds". It seems clear that this was a piece of ephemera for review copies of that later work, and the previous owner has simply pasted it into this copy of "The Good Earth". The note is in very good condition with some spotting. Not perfect but a presentable, and collectable copy with a fairly uncommon signature, and at a great price.…
