435 pgs., 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", Black cloth hardcover with moderate wear, INSCRIBED & SIGNED BY AUTHOR on title page, content clean & tight with b/w photos & illus., DJ has a 1/2" to 3/4" chip missing across head of spine which wraps around to top corners of front & rear cover with lesser chipping , small chips at foot of spine with aged brown tape, three brown age strips of tape at bottom of front cover, three brown age strips of tape across rear flap fold, chipping at top of rear cover with age brown strip of tape, DJ in mylar wrapper, INCLUDED are two items: First item is a typed envelope containing a blank business like card of a 15th century woodcut of a ship which the author has inscribed, signed & dated, Second item is a typed envelope containing a 3" x 8 1/2" note typed on notebook paper & signed by author. The author talks about his sort of sequel to this book, The Harpers Ferry, in which he learned a good deal from the time he spent in West Africa which he used in his book.
