Add to basketFirst edition of Mae West's autobiography. Octavo, original cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Bill with heartfelt and deep admiration for all the things we've shared - Mae - Come on up and." Very good in a very good dust jacket. Mae West, known in her prime as Diamond Lil, was an actress, singer, and playwright known for her risquà style. Often clashing with conventional social mores, West worked in vaudeville acts in New York before moving to Los Angeles to enter the film industry. Amidst the controversies she stirred up by her shows, she quipped "I believe in censorship. I made a fortune out of it." West reflects here on nearly 50 years of her life as a performer.
