A family history compiled from the letters and papers of Freeman Orestus Rice, who moved from Vermont to Northfield, MN in 1858. Rice was a well known settler, surveyor, teacher, candymaker and later city engineer who was an eye witness to the failed James/Younger gang bank raid in Northfield. Limited Edition, number 6 of 500. Spine head gently bumped with the previous owner's name inside. Corresponding crimp and light sunning to the jacket spine, in new Brodart. Inscribed and signed by Grosser on the half title page.
