Illustrated throughout. A near fine copy with clean boards, bright gilt and excellent internal condition. Dustwrapper very well preserved with light fading and rubbing and minimal shelf wear only. Dustwrapper is very good plus overall. An important Patrick Moore title published in the immediate aftermath of the Viking Mars missions, incorporating the latest discoveries about the Martian surface, atmosphere and exploration history. A highly readable and historically significant work by Britain's best-known popular astronomer and long-time presenter of 'The Sky at Night'.
