Bound in maroon cloth with title on spine in gilt, and Lion motif on front board. t.e.g. Previous owner's bookplate on front paste down. The edges of the boards show very slight wear. Fore edge and bottom edge untrimmed. Inscribed by the author on the first blank after the title page,"To a Faithful Scribe and Loving Daughter of the Confederacy, M.F.H."
