This is an original pencil drawning hand SIGNED by James Montgomery Flagg; Titled: "Happy Birthday -- Susannah! Aug. 18/45 "; and signed by the artist also in pencil at bottom right; paper size: 9 x 11-1/2in; the image is of a famous socialite of the depression era; drawing is of the top torso of subject; very typical of Flagg's style.talent. This portrait is very typical of his rapid portrait studies and incisive caricatures were prized by many prominent sitters (Reed, p. 95); best known for his World War I Uncle Sam recruiting poster, "I Want You"; he was elected to the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 1980; overall a little rubbing; a few small invisible marks in the image, the paper is glued to back of cardboard, also the original front matt is glued to the edges of the drawing and coming off at sections; but overall the drawing is in GOOD COND. Even with these flaws a very good opportunity to own an original Flagg drawing; Seller Inventory # 1172
