Blind-stamped black cloth with gilt spine lettering, first 2 vols clean and virtually unworn bar trivial sub to top Vol.2 spine, 3rd vol. slightly worse having a little back joint splitting, thin chips across top spine and top back joint, all in wraparound acetate protective wrappers as acquired. Vol.1 : viii + 376 + 16, main text entirely unopened; no obvious faults, end gutters good, this and Vol.2 in fact Fine, Vol.2 : iv + 420; as Vol.1 but a couple of small tanning spots and a few minor small paper slits to front gutter, Vol. 3: iv + 298; this is of different provenance with large engr. ;ib. plate of S. Edmund's College Old Hall to fr. paste-down + early lib. number and small round withdrawn stamp, top t.p. inscr. 'Wm Ward Esq. with the comps of the Author', lib. accession stamp verso t.p. end gutters thinly cracked but secure. An attractive if mixed set with bonus of authors gift inscription. 15 cm x 22 cm.
