Contains 4 (of 9) full-page copper engraved plates, signed by artists F. Hayman, C. Vanloo, J. Jouvenet, and J.M. Moreau le jeune; and by engravers Westwood, I. Taylor, Le Grand, J. Caldwell, and Hicks. Text in double columns, with footnotes. Table of Biblical weights and measures, and list of books of the Old and New Testaments, and Apocrypha, follow text. Some light wear to the boards, ink stain to the upper edge of the lower cover, name plate on the front cover is quite worn. Tear to frontispiece inner margin neatly repaired, likewise repair to 11L2 slightly touching 3 letters. A fine copy with the family record of John Corser from 1740, and with the front cover bearing the ornamental gilt red morocco name plate (rubbed) of John Corser, 1777. The subtitle of the New Testament is dated 1771 (this work was originally issued in parts). Baskerville published only two Bibles in his lifetime: the Cambridge Bible (1763) and the Birmingham Bible (1769-1772). The former of the two is a lectern bible for use in churches; the latter is a complete family bible for use at home (F.E.
