Book from the library of Margaret Kelly Hughes (known as Mardi), wife of John Chambers Hughes the U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO 1953-1955. Margaret Hughes lived in France during WWII & volunteered to help French prisoners of war held in Meaux. She was decorated 3 times by the French Government for her service to the country & wrote "Les Lauriers Sont Coupes" about her experiences during the war. Book is inscribed to Mrs. John C. Hughes signed by author and dated on front endpage. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
