New York/Philadelphia: D. Appleton & Company & George S Appleton, 1843. This is a Near Fine copy of the First American Edition, in a quality rebind. Light orange cloth boards with tips and spine of reddidh-brown leather. Five raised bands with gilt titling and decorations on the spine. Clean text; 380 pages, with a 24-page catalog in the rear. Top edge is gilt. Illustrations by Samuel Lover. Textblock has some stains and spots but remains perfectly readable. New endpapers; with a small bookseller label [McDevitt-Wilson's Books] on the rear paste-down. Contemporary (1844) signature from a previous-owner on an original endpaper. Tipped-in is an Autograph Letter SIGNED by Samuel Lover. Light rubbing to the margins; else a Fine copy. In an archival plastic protector. Signed by Author. First American Edition. Quarter-Bound. Near Fine/No Jacket. Illus. by Samuel Lover. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Terms of sale
We accept checks and money orders in US Dollars. Credit card orders are accepted through ABE. California residents must add appropriate sales tax (currently 7.25%). Items are returnable for any reason within ten days of receipt (please email or call first before returning item).
Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. Due to the recent turmoil in postal rates (particularly for International orders)shipping costs may need to be assessed on an individual basis. It is our policy to ship at the exact cost.
