The book presented here is a first edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. This copy was signed in blue pen to the dedication page in July 2000 at Hatchards London, following the conclusion of J.K. Rowling's Hogwarts Express Tour for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The book is accompanied by an original letter from Hatchards which was given out with signed copies of the book. This particular copy is in near fine condition which appears unread with some bumping to the bottom of the spine. The top of the spine seems to be unaffected and in fantastic condition. The pages edges are beautifully white and crisp, but there are a couple of tiny age spots to the top edge. Aside from this the book is in near perfect condition, with a square and tight binding, sharp corners and no colour fading. Internally, there are no ownership inscriptions, stamps, tears or dog eared pages. The dust jacket is in fine condition with no creases and no colour fading at all. The signature comes fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity, collector card and outstanding provenance in the form of the original letter from Hatchards. Included is a blue quarter leather clamshell box with gold gilt lettering to the spine. Seller Inventory # 194
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Review: In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, J.K. Rowling offers up equal parts danger and delight--and any number of dragons, house-elves, and death-defying challenges. Now 14, her orphan hero has only two more weeks with his Muggle relatives before returning to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Yet one night a vision harrowing enough to make his lightning-bolt-shaped scar burn has Harry on edge and contacting his godfather-in-hiding, Sirius Black. Happily, the prospect of attending the season's premier sporting event, the Quidditch World Cup, is enough to make Harry momentarily forget that Lord Voldemort and his sinister familiars--the Death Eaters--are out for murder.
Readers, we will cast a giant invisibility cloak over any more plot and reveal only that You-Know-Who is very much after Harry and that this year there will be no Quidditch matches between Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Instead, Hogwarts will vie with two other magicians' schools, the stylish Beauxbatons and the icy Durmstrang, in a Triwizard Tournament. Those chosen to compete will undergo three supreme tests. Could Harry be one of the lucky contenders?
But Quidditch buffs need not go into mourning: we get our share of this great game at the World Cup. Attempting to go incognito as Muggles, 100,000 witches and wizards converge on a "nice deserted moor." As ever, Rowling magicks up the details that make her world so vivid, and so comic. Several spectators' tents, for instance, are entirely unquotidian. One is a minipalace, complete with live peacocks; another has three floors and multiple turrets. And the sports paraphernalia on offer includes rosettes "squealing the names of the players" as well as "tiny models of Firebolts that really flew, and collectible figures of famous players, which strolled across the palm of your hand, preening themselves." Needless to say, the two teams are decidedly different, down to their mascots. Bulgaria is supported by the beautiful veela, who instantly enchant everyone--including Ireland's supporters--over to their side. Until, that is, thousands of tiny cheerleaders engage in some pyrotechnics of their own: "The leprechauns had risen into the air again, and this time, they formed a giant hand, which was making a very rude sign indeed at the veela across the field."
Long before her fourth installment appeared, Rowling warned that it would be darker, and it's true that every exhilaration is equaled by a moment that has us fearing for Harry's life, the book's emotions running as deep as its dangers. Along the way, though, she conjures up such new characters as Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, a Dark Wizard catcher who may or may not be getting paranoid in his old age, and Rita Skeeter, who beetles around Hogwarts in search of stories. (This Daily Prophet scoop artist has a Quick-Quotes Quill that turns even the most innocent assertion into tabloid innuendo.) And at her bedazzling close, Rowling leaves several plot strands open, awaiting book 5. This fan is ready to wager that the author herself is part veela--her pen her wand, her commitment to her world complete. (Ages 9 and older) --Kerry Fried

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Giles Greenfield (illustrator). 1st Edition. The book presented here is an authentically signed first UK edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The book was signed at Waterstones, Emerson Chambers, in Newcastle on July 10th, 2000, two days following the publication of the book, as part of her Hogwarts Express Book Tour which lasted 4 days starting at London Kings Cross Station and ending in Perth, Scotland. The majority of the books signed at the Newcastle Waterstones were printed by Omnia Books Limited in Glasgow, who supplied copies to the north of England and Scotland. By far most UK first printing copies were printed by Clays Ltd. Omnia printed copies of the first UK edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire are particularly uncommon and are extremely hard to find. They command a premium compared to copies printed by Clays. This particular copy still appears unread, with a square and tight binding and very little marginal toning to the page edges which is rare for this book. Aside from some creasing to the spine base this would be a fine copy. Internally, there are no ownership inscriptions, marks, tears or dog eared pages, a very clean copy. The dust jacket is in fine condition with no colour fading at all, protected in a removable Brodart dust jacket cover. The signature comes fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'The Harry Potter Specialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating J.K. Rowling's signature. This copy comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity, collector card and letter of provenance from the original owner Nick. Signed by Author(s). Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Grandpré, Mary (illustrator). 1st Edition. First of all neither me nor my book has anything to do with a listing on Ebay in May 2021 which used some of my photographs relating to my listing here on abebooks but with a different copy of the book. Ebay and the ebay seller were notified of the fraud involved in that ebay listing. There has now been a programme about this type of activity. My copy is a Clays 1st printing of The Goblet of Fire Children's edition 2000 and marked First Edition. It is in perfect as new condition, unread, sharp square boards, clean text block, perfect dust jacket. This copy was signed for me at the Edinburgh Book Festival on the 13th august 2000 which I attended with my family. Perfect collectors copy. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 000535

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. Giles Greenfield (illustrator). 1st Edition. The book presented here is a first edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire signed in blue pen on Saturday 8th July 2000 at Didcot Railway Centre on the same day that the book was published, meaning it was one of the very first copies to have been signed. For the launch of the book in July 2000, J.K. Rowling embarked on a four day Hogwarts Express Book Tour, setting off in a red steam train from Kings Cross Station, visiting Oxford (Didcot), Manchester, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Perth. Books signed on this first part of the tour are more sought after and come with Golden Tickets with the title Hogwarts Express Book Tour across the top. J.K. Rowling returned a few days later for signing events at Harrods (London), Hatchards (London), Borders Books (Brighton), Ottakers (Kent) and Books etc (London). Here golden tickets were again issued however these tickets do not have the title across the top meaning that books signed at these later events are not as collectable. The book and dust jacket presented here are in fine condition. The book is unread, the binding is tight, the boards are square with sharp corners and the pages are a bright white, clean and free from any toning, creases, marks, ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind. There is no colour fading at all to the book or dust jacket which is incredibly rare. The dust jacket is unclipped, has no creases or colour fading at all and is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The signature comes fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity, collector card and gold ticket. Included is a blue quarter leather clamshell box with gold gilt lettering to the spine.
