"Paul White's epoch-making book for long remained unrivalled and set a new standard in cardiological text-books" (Bedford 357). I know of three publications co-authored by White and Mudd between 1927 and 1929. One of the three (no. 125) is a paper White selected as one of his more important publications: no. 117 "Angina Pectoris in Young People", Am. Heart J. Vol. 3, 1927; no. 125 "The Auscultatory Gap in Sphygmomanometry", Arch Int. Med., Vol. 41, 1928; no. 151 "Observations on the Effect of Various Factors on the Duration of the Electrical Systole of the Heart as Indicated by the Length of the Q-T Interval of the Electrocardiogram", J. Clin. Invest. Vol. 7, 1929. Although a cardiologist, Seeley Mudd is best known for a lifetime of philanthropy: "During his lifetime, Mudd contributed more than $10 million to private colleges and universities. Via his will, he created the Seeley G. Mudd Foundation to continue the work 'that educational excellence be supported in the form of grants for the construction of buildings for teaching, learning, and research. Many academic institutions have buildings named in honor of Mudd' " (Wikipedia). His brother Harvey Mudd, after whom the college is named, was also a philanthropist.
