Add to basketFirst Edition (Parents' Magazine Press First Editions are identified by NAP through 1977). Once listed, this will be the Only signed copy of this book for sale anywhere on the Internet. And despite it being written 52 years ago the book is in excellent condition. Take a look at the photographs of the yellow covers. They are very clean, front, back, and spine. And the edges, corners and spine ends are unworn. In fact, the only wear is a bit of creasing in front of three of the corners. You can also see that the lettering on the spine is very bright. And the book is square and tight and very solidly bound. The inside covers and end papers are blue and they too are very clean. On the front end paper it reads 'For Jaqrice with Love and good wishes! Ilse-Margret Vogel, April 1973'. Near the top right-hand corner of the title page there is a very small spot and on the following page in the same area there is an even smaller one. After that, and I turned over all the pages, there isn't another instance of soiling. In fact the pages are in really wonderful shape, they are bright and not toned. Very good paper. With the exception of the author's signed inscription no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. There aren't any markings or attachments (this is NOT an ex-library book). And there aren't any creases or dogeared corners. The only imperfection I saw was a tiny (1/8th") tear off the middle edge of the title page. The illustrations in the book are wonderful. They can be found on every page, and a number of them are full-page. Both the Story and Pictures are by Ilse-Margret Vogel. Ms. Vogel was a German-American author who mostly wrote for children and young adults. She also wrote a personal memoir titled Bad Times, Good Friends which told the story of how a small group of German artists and dissidents lived in Nazi Germany between 1943 and 1945.
