New York: Reynal & Hitchcock, 1946. First Edition. Signed by the author without inscription on full title. Additional handwritten note laid. Octavo (8.25" x 5.75"); x, 80p. Illustrated black dustjacket with original $2.50 price; book in red cloth with blue lettering. Jacket shows a few small chips and tears along edges and some scuffs to face. Boards are sturdy and square with light edgewear. Binding is sound and pages unmarked. First collection by the two-time United States Poet Laureate and co-founding editor of the small and influential literary magazine Furioso. The laid-in note reads "Dear Harold -- This is certainly a nice copy. Good to hear from you, and of course I'm glad to learn that you're still collecting. Regards, Reed 7/1/99," Harold being either Harold Mays or Harold Herman, collectively known as The Two Harolds -- a D.C. couple who lived and collected together for nearly 50 years.
