Add to basketSIGNED. A wildly innovative and inventive promotional piece produced by Chris Sickles of Red Nose Studio in collaboration with the design firm Planet 10, the printer Quality Printing, and binder D.E. Baugh. The book is a tour-de-force showcase for Sickles' artwork: figures made of painted clay and repurposed objects, photographed in narrative settings, with nonsense rhymes by the artist. The cover is die-cut and silkscreen-printed and bound with sewn red thread. Many of the pages--French-folded, double sheets--are embossed, one is in braille, one spread has a pop-up, and at the back is a card figure that can be punched out and made to stand. The piece won over ten awards from the graphic design and arts communities including a "Best in Show" and a first place. SIGNED BY SICKLES on the first page, dated in 2004, and inscribed. First edition. 22 pages + bound-in card sheet; color illustrations throughout; 11 x 14 inches. Condition: Fine paperback. LAID-IN is a small archive of ephemera related to the artist: an original polaroid of one his works with a note from the artist written on the back; a business card with an original photograph mounted on it; 2 signed letters; 2 holiday greeting cards; 4 promotional cards; a handwritten tag; a 2006 magazine profile/interview; and a 2-page ad featuring the artist and his work. Ships the next business day, wrapped in padding, in a box. Due to size and weight, international and expedited shipping may be more than quoted.
