William Chauncy Langdon "was president of the American Pageant Association, formed in Boston in 1913, "in the endeavor to establish a uniform standard of pageants and pageantry in America," according to the association's "Who's Who in Pageantry" published in 1914. He began his career in 1911 by making a pageant for the small town of Thetford, Vt. By the time of Indiana's centennial he had done several good-sized pageants including a highly acclaimed pageant for Cape Cod's "Canal Jubilee.".
