First edition, first printing. Signed by Winfred Rembert on the front free endpaper and inscribed to a former owner. Bound in publisher's glossy pictorial boards. Very Good with significant splaying to boards and light rubbing to covers. In a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with faint edge wear. The self-taught folk artist's autobiography expressed through richly colored leather work, a medium he learned in prison, on canvas bringing to mind the art of Horace Pippin and Jacob Lawrence, scarce signed.
