Long's career was cut short when he was assassinated in the Louisiana State Capitol building in 1935 by a Louisiana doctor related to a Long political opponent. Long was the model for one of the most famous characters in American political fiction -- Willie Stark in Robert Penn Warren's "All the King's Men." Inscribed by T. Harry Williams to a previous owner (a history student) on the front endpaper. 844 pages, illustrated. Has a non-author gift inscription on the back endpaper. There's foxing on the endpapers and flaps of the dust jacket. The jacket also has a crease on the front flap.
