Human Sexual Response, together with Human Sexual Inadequacy - both first edition association copies

Two volumes 8vo, tan cloth, spine titles in gilt on magenta fields. First edition stated in both cases. Both lack their dustjackets, but present as Fine, with square corners and spine ends, no shelf wear and no rubbing. Response can only be called Near Fine as the spine gilt is a bit faded. Response is inscribed 'To Saul Rosenzweig / With personal and / professional regard. / Virginia Johnson / Bill Masters.' Inadequacy is inscribed: 'To Saul and Louise / With our compliments / Gini Johnson / Bill Masters.' Saul Rosenzweig was a prominent psychologist and psychotherapist tenured at Washington University in St. Louis, where Masters and Johnson did their seminal work. Rosenzweig published more than 200 articles and books, and is remembered for formulation of what became known as the 'Dodo Bird Hypothesis', and was instrumental in founding the International Society for Research on Aggression. Thus a nice pair of copies with association between Masters and Johnson and a senior colleague and important contemporary figure in American psychology.
