Poet and lyricist Fran Landesman has the rare ability to reach many people - in different moods, from every walk of life - with such impressive lyrics as 'Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most' and 'The Ballad of Sad Young Men'. Her bestselling songs have been enjoyed by millions and her admirers in the musical world can scarcely be counted. They include artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Roberta Flack and Shirley Bassey; those she has collaborated with from George Fame to Richard Rodney Bennett; and lyrical wizards like Richard Rodgers who praised Fran's verses because they are 'not only clever, they are warm and unfailingly touching'. In addition to writing lyrics, she has recently turned solo cabaret performer. Since her debut at the Crypt of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, she has performed in jazz festivals and clubs in England and America and most recently she appeared in a platform performance at the National Theatre.
