Marvin Mass began his career at Cosentini in 1952, eventually rising to chairman of the globally active firm and being widely recognized for his technological and procedural innovations. . Originally a mechanical engineer by training, Mass is renowned for his sensitivity to design and to what an architect is aiming to accomplish. His teaching credits include Harvard's Graduate School of Design, Yale University, and lectures at the University of Pennsylvania, Pratt Institute, and Cooper Union. His designs have earned many accolades. His memoir is an insider's view into some of the most important buildings and architects of the last half century. Citing examples from his distinguished body of work, Mass shows how buildings and our expectations of them have changed with the development of environmental controls.
