8vo, 375 pgs., some foxing of pages. Signed and inscribed by the author to Henry Van Dyke. Katrina Trask and Henry Van Dyke did know each other?and their connection was both personal and poetic. Van Dyke, a prominent American author and clergyman, was part of the Trasks? circle of friends. He visited their estate, Yaddo, in Saratoga Springs, New York, which Katrina and her husband Spencer Trask had transformed into a haven for artists. In fact, Van Dyke composed one of his most beloved poems, Time Is, specifically for a sundial in Yaddo?s gardens?a gift for Katrina. Bound in green cloth, gold lettering on front board. Lettering on spine starting to fade. Light staining otherwise a very Rare copy.
