Bound in publisher's ribbed red/orange cloth with black lettering on front board and spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with barely a hint of toning. Top tips gently bumped. A touch of softness to spine ends. A couple tiny spots on rear board. Still remarkably well-preserved. Equally attractive unclipped dust-jacket, (7s. 6d. net), has a tiny, almost invisible closed edge-tear on the rear panel. Equally small chip to the top of the rear hinge. Stunningly fresh and bright and scarce in such nice condition. Inscribed and signed by the author on the front end-paper, "N.G. from M.P. Shiel". From the personal library of Australian comedian, actor, author and satirist Barry Humphries, (1934-2023), best known for his character, Dame Edna Everage, whom he portrayed for decades. With his bookplate affixed to the front paste-down and a short notation in pencil from him on the front end-paper, signed with his initials.
