First edition and first printing. Hardcover. 159 pages. An early monograph on this important African American photographer. Edited by Liliane De Cook and Reginald McGhee. Features an introduction by Reginia A. Perry. Includes over 100 black and white images. A clean and tight very near fine copy and in a very near fine dust jacket. Signed and inscribed by Van Der Zee in a clear hand: "For Edwin Land always yoursn and with best wishes and thoughts. James Van Der Zee 1886-1900-1973 Lenox Mass & N.Y.C." A very nice copy as the recipient was Dr. Edwin Land the co-founder of Polaroid.

Libraries, institutions, and accredited dealers in the United States can be sent books with invoice.
All books noted as First Editions are also First Printings unless indicated otherwise. Books are returnable for any reason within 30 days of the estimated delivery date provided they are returned in the same condition they were sent. Illinois residents please add 7.00% sales tax.

Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 3 LB, or 1.4 KG. However, larger or heavier books or multi-volume sets will require additional postage. We will contact you if additional postage is required.
