In this work, Jill Johnston, who was the art and culture critic for the Village Voice from 1959 through the mid 1970's puts forward her argument that several Jasper John's works have hidden figure of a diseased man. She puts forward her case forcefully, despite John's denying any awareness or intentionality with regard to Johnston's allegations. PLUS two other works from the library of author Jill Johnston which both bear her stamp "Write First, Then Live" J.J. , The Gagosian Gallery in New York Exhibition Catalogue of Jasper Johns According to What & Watchman which ran from January 21 to March 14, 1992. This copy is in very good condition without any notations, markings or underlining. It is a soft cover with French folds, the front cover of which continues the cover artwork. There is also a pull out copy of the cover art included. Finally, there is the 1988 Philadelphia Museum of Art Exhibition Catalogue of Jasper Johns Work Since 1974 that ran from October 23, 1988 to January 8, 1989. It is a soft cover in good condition and has underlinings, brackets, and comments by Jill Johnston.
