Add to basketVery good overall condition in the original publisher?s cloth with the original printed dust jacket. The jacket is complete but worn, with pronounced edge wear, shallow chipping and fraying at the head and foot of the spine, small losses at the corners, and general age toning and surface soiling. Spine lettering remains legible. The cloth binding beneath is sound and square. Internally, the binding is firm. Endpapers and text pages show light to moderate age toning and faint creasing, with occasional minor edge wear, but no significant tears or repairs. A printed bookplate (?Henry and Tema David?) is affixed to the front endpaper, and the volume is additionally inscribed in ink by the author.
Inscribed in friendship by Rabbi Dr. Victor E. Reichert to Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand David, dated December 8, 1946, Cincinnati, Ohio. A scholarly mid-20th-century commentary on the Book of Job, issued in the respected Soncino Books of the Bible series under the editorship of Rev. Dr. A. Cohen. An appealing association copy combining theological scholarship, postwar Jewish publishing history, and a warm personal inscription from the commentator.
