Engraved frontispiece portrait of Francis byt Julius Goldmann, and one other engraved plate [i-ii], [v]-ccxxxvi. 1 vols. 8vo. RARE. Special issue of the author's "Memoir of Dr. Francis", which appeared as pp. cxxxvi in Francis' OLD NEW YORK, published by Widdleton in 1866. Tickerman had a few copies of his text bound up for presentation, with the addition of a half-title (and the original title page removed), as here. This copy is inscribed on the flyleaf: "William J. Hoppins Esq. / with the best regards of his friend / The Author. / New York. Jan 30. 1866." Original purple cloth (slightly faded), lettered in gilt on upper cover "Memoir of Dr. Francis / Tuckerman".
