John Steinbeck Pigasus Drawing, Inscription and Signature to The Log from the Sea of Cortez

Wonderful John Steinbeck hand-drawn cartoon of Pigasus with "Miyagus" underneath and inscribed "with the hope that this may amuse you. John Steinbeck" to the half title page AND a reference to Ed Ricketts, "Chapter 14 page 131" written on the back cover of the dustjacket, below the "About Ed Ricketts" profile. The book itself is in very good condition. The blue cloth boards are tight and square but the cloth is somewhat faded to the spine. The pages are a little browned with age. There are no pen-marks or inscriptions other than those of John Steinbeck. The dustjacket is in fair condition only. It is browned and has chips to the head and foot of the spine and to the corners, as well as a number of small closed tears. Part of the browning appears to emanate from a small historic damp stain, which can be made out above the photograph showing the Ed Ricketts related inscription. It might be said that the dust-jacket has character.
