An essay on the aesthetic, character, and work of Jonathan Williams, Black Mountain College alum and the founder of the small press The Jargon Society, among other things. Scholar Guy Davenport constructs an image of Williams from rhetoric that is half prose, half academic study. This copy inscribed by Jonathan Williams, which reads: "For George and Eudice Salut from Jonathan Aspen 1969". This work was published on the occasion of the poet's 40th birthday. Eudice is Eudice Shapiro, who was a famous violinist, music teacher, and recording artist. George is her husband George Kast, who was also a violist and music teacher, among other things. Eudice was attended the Aspen, Colorado Music Festival for many years. This work is quite scarce in any condition. Signed copies rarely offered; and a unique association copy.
