Add to basketA poor, disbound copy. Front board detached. Spine detached. Binding loose. Adhesive tape stains to boards, to spine, and to the frontispiece. Chips to corners of the half-title page. ; 230, [3], [3 (blank)] pages + frontispiece. Blue papered boards. Page dimensions: 187mm x 120mm. This copy nicely inscribed by the author on the half-title page: "Best wishes from the author, Robin Hyde (Iris Wilkinson)". NB: The book itself is in poor condition, and the half-title page which the author has inscribed is itself detached and chipped at the corners. This title was published with the pastedown endpapers integral to the printed sheets, and with the half-title printed on the second leaf of the first gathering (the first leaf of the gathering forming the front pastedown endpaper); this can give the impression that a blank front free endpaper is missing. "First we had America, then we had the depression. We could have stood either, but not both. And the Newspaper Proprietors' Association, such of it as is not already broke, has taken to crooning 'For ever to have and to hold' over its money. There is what I call an extremely vulgar interest now taken in figures - outside the fashion page." - from the foreword. ; 8vo; Signed by Author.
