Inscribed First Edition, First Printing of this on-the-eve of the Cuban Missile Crisis discussion of nuclear brinksmanship by a Manhattan Project scientist turned nuke skeptic. Inscribed by Ralph Lapp to previous owners on the front endpaper. The inscription refers to the book's dedication to Eugene Rabinowitch, a Manhattan Project and University of Chicago colleague of Lapp. Rabinowitch founded the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists of which Lapp was early and active contributor. The inscription appears to be written to Rabinowitch's son, Victor, a prominent scientist, and spouse. Black cloth, 197 pages. The book itself has minimal sign of previous use. The dust jacket has chips on the front and back covers.
