King Haber - Alfred Neumann Signed First US Edition, Alfred H. King, New York 1930 A collection of three short stories of historical fiction from the German writer including the first U.S. appearance of The Patriot, adapted into the 1928 Oscar winning film, most notable for being lost. It is the only Best Picture Academy Award nominee for which no complete or near-complete copy has been found. Inscribed and dated in the year of publication by the author on the front free endpaper Purple cloth stamped in green, pp. [xiv], 269, [5]; VG book, light rubbing to spine ends, slight bumping to corners in a fair dust jacket, rear panel detached at the rear joint else good with chips, tears, toning, soil, and a faded spine.
