Octavo; publisher's cloth, red topstain, in black pictorial dust jacket retaining original price ($2.00); 256pp. Jacket margins rather chipped and worn, especially along front flap fold and at spine ends; overall a Very Good copy in About Very Good jacket. Inscribed and signed by the author on p. [2], "For Leo - Who gave this yarn its first airing / Affectionately, Sam." The author's first crime novel to feature the hardboiled, 300 pound, cigar-smoking detective Amy Brewster.
