THE NO. 1 LADIES' DETECTIVE AGENCY - signed first printing

Polygon, 2003, Edinburgh, 8vo, 213 pages. First edition, first printing. Signed in person, directly to the title page; no inscription. No price on dust jacket, as issued. Barcode present on rear of dust jacket. A most rare edition of the classic as it was printed in error as Polygon did not own the rights to publish the hardcover, rather, only the paperback. As a result, only a small amount of hardcover copies were printed, before it was halted. This copy is in unread condition. Book is tight and clean. Only flaws keeping this copy from as-new status are most minor rubbing along corner tips and edges. Dust jacket is bright and attractive. The story takes place in the Republic of Botswana. A beautiful copy of the rare, true first hardcover edition, first printing. Signed by Alexander McCall Smith. This is the first title in the popular series, that would go on to become a hit television series. Fine/Fine, signed.
