The letter has a return address of The Chelsea on West Twenty-First Street in New York and dated 1904. the front of the letter is written in pencil and reads 'My dear child - I am going to lecture you now - When you want a busy man or woman to give an autograph send an addressed envelope and save all the labor you can - I have from 40 to 48 requests a week regularly - That would mean much time from my busy work. Are you vexed? I hope not. I write from each child - so you will forgive Mencie - Faithfully (can't make out next word) C.M.H.' The back of the letter is then signed in ink by Clara Morris 'With all good wishes Yours Faithfully - Clara Morris - April 1904.' The letter has Evelyn Whitaker on the front. Evelyn Whitaker had also signed the book on the front endpaper in Xmas of 1901.
