Add to basketPart of the Handbooks of Archaeological History series. Signed by both authors on the front free endpaper. Inscribed to "Mrs. Farona Konopak," a courier who conducted tours of Indian Country for the Fred Harvey Company (University of Arizona Special Collections). Navy blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. Slight rubbing to edges; very mild soiling. Beige illustrated dust jacket with black lettering on cover and spine. Jacket is wrapped in mylar and is not price clipped. Moderate chipping to edges; wear and small tears to folds; some light staining. Binding is tight. Interior has minor creasing to a few early pages. A second dust jacket had its flaps trimmed off and was glued to rear pastedown. The front flap was glued to the front pastedown, but has since detached and is now laid in. Includes a map of New Mexico as a frontispiece as well as black-and-white photos throughout. Edgar Lee Hewett (1865-1946) was an archaeologist and anthropologist known for his work on the Native American peoples of the southwest and his role in the passage of the Antiquities Act. This book offers concise descriptions of the most famous landmarks and monuments around New Mexico, with a focus on Native American history.
