First Edition (first printing). A presentation copy, inscribed by the author to Irish writer and playwright Donagh MacDonagh on the front free endpaper and dated the year of publication. 8vo. 79pp. Rough brown linen lettered and ruled in red at the spine and upper board. The boards lifting, and with some light partial toning to the free endpapers. Tiny biro mark to the base of an unprinted preliminary leaf. A nice bright copy in the uncommon dust wrapper, which is lightly toned and lacks the spine panel whilst retaining the front and rear panels and both flaps. The author's second collection of verse, forty-four poems in seven sections, including the title section which is devoted to his Spanish Civil War verse (Milne worked as a voluntary administrator for the Spanish Medical Aid Committee, acting as a medical courier and ambulance driver). Uncommon, and much more so with the author's contemporary inscription.
