The Life & Labours of Hablot Knight Browne, "Phiz." Signed (initialed on limitation page) and numbered by author David Croal Thomson. [1884] first printing; Chapman & Hall; very good folio. Half leather over cloth boards by Birdsall, London. The prestigious bindery’s stamp is on flyleaf recto. 130 illustrations. Light typical handling wear to edges and extremities; raised spine bands; gold tooling; normal fading/rubbing to spine. Binding is tight/square; generally tidy with bookplate on pastedown; a bit of foxing/dustspotting on endpapers, flyleaves; overall, a very handsome volume that presents beautifully.
