Stated copyright 1951, The Beacon Press. Signed at title page: "Henry Wilder Foote". Foote wrote a new twenty-five page introduction for this volume and was a Professor at Harvard and Unitarian minister. Handy 4 1/2" x 7 1/4" design. Dark green boards, black stamped quotations, maroon cloth spine wrap, gilt spine titles, moderate shelf, corner wear, rub. Pages generally near fine, moderate toning. Some fox, discoloration at front and back endpapers. Vintage signature at front endpaper: "Wilbur S. Doyle". Rare near very good unique volume. Quotation at front and back boards: "A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock". Full title: "The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth, Extracted Textually from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, by Thomas Jefferson." Presented here is Jefferson's Bible in which is underscored the passages from the Gospels directly related to words and actions of Jesus.
