About this Item

Description:

Small 8vo. Turquoise cloth and gilt spine lettering, dust jacket. vii, 120pp. Fine/near fine. A superb, tight first edition of this slim study by the noted Los Angeles attorney (Illinois born, 1891) remembered for this and many other texts on Lincoln and religion. This exceptional copy bears a choice autograph addition: Tipped to an inner flyleaf is an Autograph Letter Signed from Lindstrom, 1p, 7¼" X 10½", Los Angeles, CA, Christmas 1919. Addressed to Arnold Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar). Effusive and odd holiday greetings in black ink in Lindstrom's large, sloppy hand: "Dear Arnold & Family / May this season/ bring to us all a reminder / of Christ's forever nativity; / so that men may live as people, and not as mutual- / hate groups.".
