A signed limited edition copy of this scarce collection of articles of literary criticism by Eric Partridge. One of 650 limited edition copies of this scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Inscribed by the author to the front free end paper, dated 1933. Bookplate of Sir Nicholas Wall (1945-2017) to the paste downs. Wall was an English judge who was President of the Family Division and Head of Family Justice for England and Wales. Fifteen essays, nine of which were originally published in periodicals, concerning literary criticism. These essays were first written between 1925 and 1932, and are compiled in this volume for the first time. The essays explore the writings of nineteenth century authors such as John Corry and Robert Eyres Landor, and also the history of drama, fiction and censorship. In addition is a collection of criticism of medical works, with some etymology of medical terms.8 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, though faded to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with scattered spots and a little offsetting to the first and last few pages. Very Good.
