Verona, Italy: A. S. Lorenz, 1992. No. 8 from an edition of 500. [14] leaves, 4-3/4 x 6-7/8, bound with gray plastic spine clip. About fine. Signed and inscribed in pencil by Lorenz to rear: "For David - I expect you to become an artist, soon. Love, Angela Lorenz." A conceptual work by American book artist Angela Lorenz (b. 1965); twelve blank-faced postcards whose rectos contain the titles of artworks playfully suggestive of those by Artemisia Gentileschi, Mantegna, Botticelli, et al. (e.g. "Virile of Female Portrait," and "St. John the Baptist Whole or Just His Head With Salomé"). In her statement at rear, Lorenz instructs the reader that, since the artists who painted these works were famous, "it logically follows that if you paint these subjects, you too will become an outstanding artist.".
