First edition. Signed by Frank Kitson on the title page, dated March 1981. xii, 208 pp. Bound in publisher's olive cloth with gilt lettering. Near Fine, light wear; military writer I.D.P. Thorne's copy with his name on front free endpaper. In a bright dust jacket with some staining to the back panel, else Near Fine. The British Army officer and military writer's best-known work, with relevance to the post-colonial world and Northern Ireland. An important work of counter-insugency.
